Description from brochure
From the airport at Katmandu we travel due east for nearly 40 miles to Nagarkot (6,000ft approx) where we spend the first three nights and spend two days walking in the scenic and interesting country. Everest can normally be seen in the distance, to the north.
We travel via Bhaktaphur to Chitwan where we have three nights and fun walking in the jungle, bird watching from acanoe and looking for wild elephants. This is the sub-tropical Terai region of Nepal's south.
Westwards now on a long drive to Pokhara where our four nights give us time for walking on the foothills of Machhapuchare and on one day venturing well up the valley to make Naudanda and maybe Birethanti. This lovely country with interesting villages whose occupants by our standards lead hard lives. The country is beathtakingly beautiful with enormus mountainscapes and deep valleys. Pokhara itself is interesting with something of a frountier town feel about it, an enjoyable place to wander around for an hour or two.
Turning eastwards now we travel to Gorkha for two nights. This is one of the setting off points for the Annapurna Circuit, one of the major long treks in Nepal, We will walk for a day from here and maybe again in the morning before driving to Kathmandu for three nights.
On our first day in Kathmandu we will make the whole-day walk around the valley climbing up to the Monastry, a beautiful walk, normally meeting many interesting people and life styles on the way. Next morning we have a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu and Patan followed by a free afternoon.
This type of holiday avoids trekking whilst enabling one to appreciate the high mountains. You can gaze upon their magnificence in awe and wonder, and walk in some of the remoter places knowing there's a comfortable hotel bed waiting at the end of the day.
